Adidas has been around for many years. It was founded in Germany in the 1920's by a man named Adolf Dassler. The company was originally called Dassler Shoes but later became know as Adidas. It gained it's name from Dassler's nick name "Adi". Dassler invented the first spiked shoe for tack and field. In 1936 US Olympian Jessie Owens won the gold in track wearing a pair of Adidas shoes.
