Omega watches was created in Switzerland by Louis Brandt in 1848. He assembled watches from parts he bought and sold them across Europe. Under his sons, the company soon grew larger and moved in to the building that houses the company headquarters today. Though the company had some financial difficulties during the economic crisis in the late 20th century, and after merging with Tissot and with the group SSIH, they continued to achieve and produce. The Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph was chosen in the 1960s as the official timepiece of American astronauts. Because of this, the Speedmaster was the first watch on the moon, worn by Mr. Aldrin when he landed.

There are some manufacturers, who never let their guard down. Omega watches, as well as other like Cartier and TAG Heuer are constantly innovating new ideas and implementing them in their creations. While new trends emerge each year, some high end manufacturers only give minimal attention to them, sticking to their bread and butter...the quality timepiece.
